Yoredale is a traditional raw milk Wensleydale made on the family farm by Ben and Sam Spence using a pre-war recipe that creates a softer, creamier and more buttery style of cheese. Previously known as Old Roan, this distinctive Yorkshire cheese has been produced since 2019 and offers a far more characterful take on modern Wensleydale.
Made from unpasteurised cow’s milk, Yoredale has a soft, creamy texture with the classic lemon yoghurt acidity associated with Wensleydale, balanced by mineral, earthy notes near the rind. The result is a beautifully layered cheese with freshness, depth and a traditional farmhouse character that makes it stand out on any cheeseboard.
